Processing

We’ve developed a wide range of processes to achieve a mass production system centered around print technology.

Design

Our inkjet printing works by printing patterns comprised of dots of ink next to each other. As the shape of each pattern is determined by the way these drops of ink are arranged, we developed a unique drawing method designed specifically for ink printing.

Printing and drying

Our proprietary inkjet printing equipment delivers high-definition, high-stability output to ensure printing perfectly in line with product blueprints. Printed substrates are then automatically transported to the drying line to ensure printed ink is dried quickly.

Sintering

Our sintering process uses photonic sintering technology (photosintering) to sinter printed ink extremely quickly. The sintering process causes the metal nanoparticles in the nano ink to attach to the substrate, creating a strong bond between the two materials. At Elephantech, we consider optimal sintering conditions a key area of expertise.

Conductor formation

Using the sintered ink as a base layer, we then use high-speed electroless copper plating technology to create conductors. As we use electroplating for this process, we’re able to form the entire printed pattern into a conductor at once. The equipment we use for this process is the same as for standard plating, but we optimize the precipitation conditions for each printed circuit pattern.

Inspection

Following copper plating, an exterior inspection is carried out by an automatic exterior inspection machine. This machine is used to ensure product quality and is equipped with a unique inspection algorithm that detects droplets of ink printed outside of the circuit pattern—a phenomenon unique to inkjet print processing—as well as gaps and abnormalities in the pattern that occur locally due to ink ejection failure.
